Talking Re: adopted Bp wouldn't eat thawed mice and gets spooked easy when handled

Yesterday I bought a large frozen mouse, thawed it and as I was approaching the thank mu snake stroke against the glass, now that's the feeding response I wanted to get . And it ate it up with no hesitation whatsoever just struggled to swallow it a little bit . It probably wasn't settled in yet. Now that's a happy and healthy snake. Other than being a little too shy this snake is a beauty.

A "little bit too shy" pretty much describes most ball pythons.

Well yes I suppose, but not my younger one. He doesn't care when being handled, likes being out of the tank and it's very currious in general and it's not aggressive at all . I've never seen it get into a ball or get spooked like the older one does .

Re: adopted Bp wouldn't eat thawed mice and gets spooked easy when handled

Some Bp's are very settled when in hand. They have no fear of you. So congratulations.

It is also safe to say that most BP's are shy animals.

They also have different personalities. I have one that will cruise around with us, hangin on our neck, while I have another girl that will puff, hiss, and just be frumpy. And then we have some that ball up like a ball python will. They are all different. You can make them more used to you through regular small handling session, but sometimes they just won't ever settle down. You can't expect them to be lap animals, they aren't domesticated.

But congratulations on the feeding! It may have seemed like he was having a tough time, but give him a few weeks, and he will be an excellent feeder.
