Unusually quiet

I have had my snake for 7 months now and he is usually quite active moving around and flicking his tongue when handled but since his last shed about 10 days ago he has been very quiet and remains still when handled, at first I thought it was constipation but he has been to the toilet since his last feeding, he doesn't ball up like he's scared, but just stays still. I handle him often so he is definitely used to it. Other than this behaviour he seems in good health. Is there something wrong??

I posted this as a reply in "ususual behaviour" (sic) but I fear people don't look at replies just the questions, and I am a little worried.

It doesn't sound like anything is wrong. Many of my snakes will calm down as they get older and most of the older ones rarely ball up. As long as he is flicking his tongue and doesn't appear lethargic, I don't think there is anything to worry about.

My ball rarely flicks her tongue when she's being held. =) As long as the snake doesn't show unhealthly attributes, s/he's probably fine.

But if you're really concerned or unsatisfied with your ability to ascertain the health and well being, take him/her to the vet for a check up...=)

watch him closely. A sick snake rarely will flick the tongue, whether in your hands or in his tub. Double check your temps and humidity, and give him a week off from handling, in case he is coming down with something. Less handling, less stress, better to fight off any illness.
