Hides in Tubs

What type of hide and brand of hide do you use in your tubs?
I know some of you dont use Hides in your tubs without problems.

I personally use basic black hide boxes, they are inexpensive, easy to find, very easy to move up to next size without hurting the good ole' wallet, look uniform when your using several boxes and easy to clean. Besides, they are in tubs getting expensive hides that are more pleasing to the eye would be silly when 90% of the time your snake is the only one looking at it.

plastic plant bases from Walmart...........The snakes love them. I've seen some people use the ceramic ones and I used to myself but the plastic ones are easier to disinfect and you can cut openings in them. Plus, they are naturally shaped like a coiled BP. And they're cheap and come in many sizes.........

I also use the black hides for some of my snakes, I think their called creature cubbyholes. We also use these at the zoo for some of the snakes.

I use dark plastic bowls from the dollar store for the small ones, and for my bigger kids I use these:

I use the big heavy weight dog bowls found at walmart.

Called crock bowls. Then just melt an entrance into em in the side with my soldering iron.

I was using those plastic planters. But they don't weigh but a few grams and every day I'd be moving the hides back after they pushed em around the tub.

your right about that, they move them around....! can't decide if thats a good thing or bad. They can thermoregulate with their hide spot! May give the dog bowl thing a try though and see how something heavier works out.

If they move them around they move them around...they'll go where they are happy anyways....and seeing as most racks offer a hidelike enclosure in the first place some of mine to not use the hides that I've offered.

I also use the plastic base for the plant pots. I cut holes in the side or the top, then sand the edges smooth. They are so easy to clean and come in several sizes. When they are too small for a snake I do the same thing with a small cat litter pan. Works great.
