    Unusual Feeding....

I haven't posted in a long time... gotta love how high school takes up all your time... anyways, yesterday was tiki's feeding day and we got two mice because he hasn't eaten in a few weeks.... I offered him the smaller of the two first and he was interested but wouldn't strike... he just watched it and poked it with his nose.... (live mice.... he won't eat anything else...) so i took that one out and put the bigger of the two in.... he struck at it and ate it right away.... then i offered him the smaller one again and he was still interested but did the same thing as before. So I left the mouse in with him for an hour (i was watching them the whole time of course) and when i took the mouse out it was curled up sleeping about 2 inches from the tiki's face... all he did the whole time was follow it around and watch it... never struck....

Do you think there's something about the mouse he doesn't like? or is he just being stubborn? I've still got the mouse in his own little tank to fatten it up a bit and offer again next week....

It might have smelled different. How old is he? older males may start to go off feed or have a weaker feeding response because of winter.

Could it have been color difference? It sounds crazy, but my female will not touch anything but all white rats.
