    RBI Plastic cage questions

Quick question: does anyone have an RBI cage, and if so, have you drilled into it for any reason? I ask because I have the 4x2 that I'm preparing for my BP, and I want to install florescent lights (day and night) and put in the probe for my second thermometer with cord grommets. However, I don't want to mess up this $200 cage...

If anyone can give suggestions on how best to make the needed holes in the pvc, I would be very much obliged!

    Re: RBI Plastic cage questions

You can drill into the plastic and make clean holes right threw and use a nut and bolt or you can screw directly into the plastic. Make sure you a screw that is small enough to not go all the way threw so that you don't cut yourself or the snake on the sharp end that sticks out.......

BTW, Rich sells lights for the cages, they are kinda pricey (he does not really even mark them up because of how much they already cost, but they are the perfect light for the cage.....

    Re: RBI Plastic cage questions

Thanks, Neil. I got some lights at Lowes that are pretty much the same as the ones he uses (for a lot cheaper), and plan on using the nut/bolt method to avoid sharp points. I guess my main concern was putting in the cord grommets. For those, you have to use a large drill bit, and I guess I'm just nervous about putting that big hole in the cage side. I don't want to crack or warp the plastic. Guess I'm just paranoid.

And I also emailed Rich about it, so I can see what he says as well.
