Re: fluid?
My water is warm for Jade, at a constant 80 degrees. The bowl is steel, so it's pretty condusive and holds the temps pretty well.

Re: fluid?
Sounds fairly typical, especially when a blood hasn't passed anything for a while. Ensure that your temps are spot on & that your snake has fresh water available at all times...I think there may be a connection between overfeeding, dehydration & sub-part temps (esp. too hot) that all play into the rock-hard urate balls that these snakes sometimes build up.
Bloods & short-tails drink a lot of water, and offering fresh water on a more frequent basis (3-4x/wk) seems to be a good practice IMO.

Re: fluid?
Hey kara!
Well lets see. He eats roughly 120 grams of food a week. He weighs 2200 something grams empty. Humidity is 60 to 65 all the time. Cold side temps are 79 to 80 steady. Hot side 88 to 89 steady. Fresh water every day to every other day.
ambient temps are 79 to 80.
Anything sound out of whack?

Re: fluid?
Sounds like you've got everything dialed in just right. How long is the snake & how big is the enclosure, out of curiosity?

Re: fluid?
He's in a ve175. He's probably 40 inches. Probably even more. That's a lowball. If he lays out flat he can touch end to end of the bottom of the ve175. So maybe more than 40 inches.

Re: fluid?
Have you tried the "cage teardown" trick? Thoroughly clean the entire enclosure from top to bottom, then paper the bottom, carefully folding the paper into the corners of the cage & also interleave it together so it forms a nice thick mat on the bottom?
The amount of time you put into this is directly related to how quickly the snake will leave a giant turd in the sparkly clean cage afterwards.

Re: fluid?
Hahahahahaha I did it a week or two ago. He didn't care. Haha. Maybe ill try it again. Make sure I do it up all fancy like. And let him soak in another tub while I do it.
Maybe he'll have something to say about all of it and take a doo doo in the corner. Hahahaha.
