So we just got a blood red... Question! Please help!

It is still quite young, we aren't positive it's age but it is super small. It is still eating pinkies. I can't find anywhere where it says when a baby blood red corn snake turnes... Bloodred! It is very cute with the grey on it but we have no idea when and how it will start to change color. Does anyone have an idea?

You have a while. It should start getting red in a few months, but it won't be that badass looking solid red for a long time. I had bloodreds and amelanistic bloodreds, and they took a long time to fully change, but when they do they are one of my favorite looking snakes. Especially the amel. bloods. Congrats on the new corn.

congrats on getting a bloodred.. and I have to agree with Jake, you have a while to go. I have one and he is over a year old and still has saddle markings although they are slowly fading away. I hope that as he gets older the saddles will totally disappear and he will be solid red, but at the rate he is going if they stay they will be very faint, which is okay too. bloods are my favorite corn morph. Post a pic of your new snake when you can. we love pics.

Oh that soon? It will be very interesting to watch him as the months pass! I'll post a pic in a bit. He ate yesterday so I'm not sure when I can handle him.

you can handle him safely 3-4 days after eating... but be careful when handling.. their back end will be fully loaded at that point.

Oh wow! Thanks for the photos! Ours at the moment is more like the one on the right in this photo: Corns With a little more color on the head.

One other thing, how do we know if it poops or not? My sis is all paranoid because we had a bp die a long time ago because it never pooped I guess. It's end was really spongy and the vet didn't know what it was. We keep it on this beast bark I think. It burrows really easily in it.

when its that small. its hard to spot, just look for small white blobs (the urates). corns are pretty good at pooing regularly (at least my guys are). yep that looks like a bloodred... can't wait to see pics of your snake.

kewl.. look forward to pics. when they are that small they tend to be so.. as they get older and get handled they tend to calm down more.. but never as laid back just hold me types like BP's.
