    Re: Merry Hissmas from Lourdes!

Aww he's so cute. I was wondering how he was doing. Y'know him and Harry are about the same size.

    AWW!

    I lost that last picture.

He is a stunning burm, I really just love these guys.

And it is so good to see people keeping them properly.

Thanks for sharing, and please post him up more often.

I am curious to know what his size and age is now, and how much he has grown (if at all) since you got him. I know the history that he was fed very conservatively his whole life, so I'm curious how he stacks up against other burms.
Has he grown? Oh yeah. He will have been with us for a year next month and in that time, he's grown @8lbs (currently at 35lbs) and about 10" (currently at @10.5' - he's hard to measure accurately). He has only denied eating twice in that time, mostly at 1-2 jumbo rats a week, but we're moving him to a large item (3-5lb rabbit or pig, depending on availability) once a month.

His age when we got him was only roughly known as 4 to 5 years, so I'm calling him 5 years old now since it's been a year.

I'll try to get more regular posting pictures of him; it's a bit tough since he's always on the move when he's out of his enclosure, so it's difficult to photograph him even with 2 people, hehe!

He is a gorgeous snake. I love how their faces/heads look like giant BPs
And you being blond.. why, you and him, match each other! Don't they say that we resemble our pets after awhile?

How much more aggresive are the burms compared to ball pythons if any different at all?

As with any species of snake, some animals may just be more aggressive than others. I would say that between my bp and and my burm, the burm definitely has a better feeding response and he hisses more often ("who's touching me?!"), but I wouldn't call him aggressive. The same rules apply to all my snakes: don't stick your hands in the cage quickly because you'll be more likely confused as food, don't smell like rats or mice, use tongs to feed. =)

Having said that, the only snake of our four who hasn't bitten me is the burm, hehe (thank god!).
