My advice would be to have the enclosure all set up and running well before you actually get the snake. Make sure it will hold the temps and humidity like you expect it to and get all the tweaking done beforehand.

This is just what we're going to do before the weather gods permit the shipping of our 3 bp's. We'll get the places for our cages together (right now we're not exactly sure of the locations) and get them up and running and stable. Then we will chant for warmth so they can be shipped!

im getting bp for x-mas but if any one has any advice please can i have it (oh yeah your guy's x-mas present is pics)
Congrats on your BP! You must have been very good this year.
My suggestion is to read and re-read the Ball Python Care Sheet before your new ball-of-joy comes home. Even when you think you know the bulk of information, rereading it can provide a tip you've overlooked.
There is a good guide; Ball Python Troubleshooting guide and I recommend going into a good pet shop and getting one or two books with good pictures.
Make sure it has hides either end and having a plastic plant in the middle is a good idea so it feels more secure going between the hides. Newspaper is recommended to begin with as it will allow you to gauge the health of your snake and it is easily changed.
Don't get a vivarium that is too big this will stress a young BP 2ft x 1ft x 1ft is recommended, most shops have BP starter kits which have most of what you need. Mine had a hide, a undertank heater, a book, a plant, and some spagnum moss (good for shedding, when damp). Buy a digital thermometer it makes it much easier to see the conditions and it reacts to temperature change faster than a stick on version.
There is no need for waterfalls, pulse-proportional thermostats and definitely no basking rocks they will burn your snake.
