Unut's nose
Ok... I plan to ask my vet this soon, but I thought I'd ask over here too because its a stupid problem and I'm curious if anybody else has had it... if nothing else, folks might get a nice laugh out of it and I will have gotten to vent.
How do I keep this crazy rabbit from shoving stuff up his nose?
After his first "OMG, he's sniffling!" check up it was determined it was probably some kind of allergy, and he was given allergy meds. Then, when that didn't help, we realized he was just dripping out of just one nostril (we could tell, because hay/pellet dust stuck to his snot, gross I know ) so he probably has a piece of hay or something shoved up his nose.
It costs around $900 to go up his nose and look/pull it out. After all the money spent this year on Cleo's rich tapestry of problems and Daphne's bladder stone and Ma-tsu's infection... there is no way we can swing $900 to pull something out of the boy's nose.
Fortunately, he acts pretty normal aside from being annoyed and cleaning his nose and sneezing a lot. We've been just hoping he'll sneeze it out. But the more I watch him the more I realize how he tends to SHOVE his face into the hay and come up with stuff all over/in his nose! So... this may be a regular thing. Like Homer Simpson shoving crayons up his nose, it seems to be his own doing.
We made our own hay bins out of little plastic tubs, but maybe we need something with a grating... I've tried those before, but they have a hard time getting the hay out of them and the buns are gluttons with the stuff... which is good, its good for them. In their tummy... not shoved up into their brains. And Unut is the only one who seems to have this problem, I don't want to make the other two suffer.
Honestly... Wtf, Unut? I do not know what to do with this boy. I feel so bad for him too, because it sucks to be sneezy and snuffly all the time. How for to be preventative, plz!
Here's an old vid of him taking his allergy meds... wish all our animals took meds like this when they needed them. And I wish meds were all it took to solve his problem! (ignore our cooing, it can't be helped in the presence of cute bunnies)
