    Sorry, another PAM question

So I just sprayed my BP's tank with Provent a Mite. I set it out to dry and now it is dry, but with a filmy residue making it look like the glass is greasy. It still smells a little. Is it safe for me to put her in now or should I wait longer? It has been over an hour or more since I sprayed. Thanks!

    Hi,

It should dry. You just don't want the snake breathing the fumes.

Does it usually take more than three hours? Maybe I'll leave it overnight outside to make sure.
    Thanks for your quick response!

    Re: Sorry, another PAM question

It shouldn't but maybe you sprayed it on thick? I just use a light coat as if I were painting. Hold the can about 12" away or so. 3 hours seems long to me, I only waited about half an hour or so and it was good to go.

you can always wipe it down and repeat the process not coating it so thick if you think thats the problem.

    Re: Sorry, another PAM question

Again, thanks for the info. I have my BP in a holding tank until I get my ten gallon from my parent's house that has just been sitting around. I'm going to clean it and use it tonight while I let my other tank sit overnight outside. My BF did the spraying and I think he went a little crazy with it. Ug, my head hurts from the fumes....Blech! Next time I won't use so much!

    Re: Sorry, another PAM question

Yeah, I think you used too much. The fumes are strong, but normally dissipate within 15 minutes or so. And there shouldn't be a film on the glass. Well, now you know. Just hope your snake will be ok.

    Re: Sorry, another PAM question

Thanks for your concern. I kept her in a little holding critter cage overnight, and she curled up on the warm side and slept all night, because yesterday must have been really stressful for her. Today I cleaned out the other ten gallon I have and now she is exploring it with a vengeance, so she seems none the worse for wear. I am going to clean off the PAM from the other tank as well as I can and see how it smells. I know PAM is supposed to last through several cleanings, so i suppose I don't need to spray again, and could replace her once I get most of the PAM off. Hopefully that will work, since I think I breathed in too much PAM, and I wasn't even the one spraying it! My BF sprayed it outside. Well, at least we are all safe and happy, if not mite free at the moment. Thanks for all of the great advice!
