    Arrow Newbe Building/Tub Question

    Hey all-

I've been thinking... yeah dangerous I know. But I've heard elsewhere that you can't have tubs w/ lids freestanding (no rack). Is this true? That the lids on most containers don't fit properly and that it will result in escapes.

    Re: Newbe Building/Tub Question

With my first snake I used a freestanding tub. I used black binder clips (two on the long side and one on each end) to hold the lid in place and had no escapes. I also use the same setup on my quarantine tubs. I believe that there may be other members using the same setup now.

Here's a photo of my first setup before switching to a rack.

Yeah, as is you'd definately end up with an escape. But using the binder clips prevents that.

yeah ive used free standing tubs before, and drilled holes through the lid and the lip of the tub, to put one of the keychain clips to secure it. i never had anyone escape from that

You can have free standing tubs, all you need is to make sure you are securing the lids so your snake does not escape.
