Gravid Ball Python Handling
Ok so this might sound like a dumb question but when a bp is gravid is it ok to hold her or would that decrease the chance of the eggs coming out healthy? and i'm not saying that it's something i would do, i'm just saying would it hurt her?

Re: Gravid Ball Python Handling
The less stress you impose on a gravid BP, the better. Gently moving a gravid female for cleaning/maintenance/ultrasound is one thing. Holding her just because you want to is another. Maybe I'm influenced by the female perspective on this, but it's always a good thing to make pregnant females - regardless of species - as comfortable as possible, and that means reducing interaction to "only what is absolutely necessary" in my book.
Just my $.02...

Being a female that has been pregnant several times, I would have to agree with Kevin. Being pregnant is enough stress on the body.

Re: Gravid Ball Python Handling
I barely handled any of my gravid females this past season, except to clean their tub when needed. Even then, I would just cradle them like a baby, cleaning the cage as quickly as I could.
