Hand feeding

how long should i continue hand feeding the cresties?

Hallo is doing great and getting much bigger, the babies (born oct 24th) i will continue to hand feed until they are much bigger i was just curious how many here hand feed their cresteds (dipping noses) and how many dont. I have all three since they came here.

as long as they are eating it on their own you don't need to hand feed them unless you just want to. last season i hand fed all of my hatchlings the first few times that i offered cgd, or until i could see that they were eating it on their own. this season i have only hand fed a few that i wasn't sure if they were eating it on their own yet and that has worked fine.

it can be a little trickier if you get your geckos from someone who didn't feed cgd as they will try to hold out for whatever they used to get but i have yet to have a gecko that didn't switch over within a few weeks time.

ok, thank you. im not certain they are eating it on their own. i have no problem feeding them by hand since trick and traid are still very young (1month now) and while im at it i have been dipping hallo's nose too. Trick and Traid were both eating baby food with calcium dust is what they were started on.
