setting up new thermostat
I just bought a johnson thermostat to replace my crummy alife and I was wondering if I can go ahead and set it up right away or if I have to unplug everything and wait for the heat pads to totally cool down before I set up the new thermostat. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but could have sworn I read somewhere that you had to wait till everything cools down.

I wouldn't think so, but if you read that somewhere let it cool. It could be cooled by the time you wrote this and got a response. What's 5 minutes of cool down going to hurt?

Yeah, you should just be able to plug it in and go w/o any cooling. But definately keep an eye on the temp with a probed thermometer. Sometimes the thermostat can say one thing, but the temp is actually different, so you have to calibrate the thermostat or just adjust (not sure if the johnson lets you calibrate the temp or not).
