Tub in a cold(er) room

Hey Guys,

I have another BP on the way from Next World Exotics and I'm setting up a tub for a quarantine period. Best I can do is a room with a temp of around 70F. I have a ranco setup on the UTH holding at 92 steady, but the cold side of the tub won't pull much over 73F.

Any ideas to increase the heat?

My humidity is holding nicely at 55, which is nice as my terrarium setup is running low with the winter season.

I'd like to avoid cutting up the lid of the tub, but it might be the only answer.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I am not familar with tub set ups (meaning I don't have one...) but maybe a small UTH on the cool side might work, of course that'll mean another thermostat/dimmer/rheostat. Let's see what other's have to say.

Only other thing I could think of would be a second heat source, and second thermostat.

Same here, since you can't really get a lamp or CHE to put heat through a tub lid without melting said lid. Best thing would be to get a small UTH or flexwat and a second stat or dimmer for it.

Let's see what the expert tub people say, though.

Raise the room temp. I do this with a oil filled heater in the room my room stays no lower than 80 degrees.

ya all you need is a oil filled space heater. just got one a few weeks ago and i love it.

Very good point from freaky frog!!!! Those heaters are inexpensive, and can definitely warm up a room.

Thanks guys...

Heater is out.. The room is way too large to heat up without costing a fortune. I have a few more UTH's, but that does a poor job of heating the internal air.

Hmmm, ... reminds me of a similar problem I ran into last year. I relocated my boas into a different part of the house away from the snake room. I just could not get the temps up on the cold side (didn't go any higher than 72 degree). Tried a separate heat mat, just to find out that it messed up my oh-so-perfect humidity settings <grrgh>. Ended up going to the hardware store just to see, if I could come up with an idea and ended up taking a roll of alumium insulation home, cut that to the same size of the bottom of the enclosure and - lo-and-behold - the aluminum distributed the heat all the way to the cool side of the tank and brought it up to 78 degree without any further adjustment.

If you have a walk-in closet of some sort, put the tub in there with an oil filled heater. I built a 4' x 8' "walk-in closet" in my garage. I put an oil filled radiator in there and it has always stayed right at 83 degrees.
