rubbing on tank lid
I just bought a baby BP. The other day she was climbing around the top of her tank (rather unsuccessfully as she doesn't fit well between the top of the tank and the tank itself) and started rubbing her nose/eyes pushing her way into corners and such. One of her eyes looks a little scratched (not deep at all, just on the surface) and her nose is a little rubbed (not badly). I wondered if I should:
1. put any medication on the rubs, if so, what?
2. how can I keep her from doing this? She doesn't have climbing branches right now. She just loves to climb at night. Should I have branches? I didn't think so but.........
Thanks for any info you can give me. I don't think she is majorly hurt (nothing that won't come off in a shed) but I don't want her to continue and make it worse.

Re: rubbing on tank lid
my bp went through that phase. The first 2 weeks or so he kept climbing towards the top screen trying to get out. Within two weeks he settled in tho and has stopped trying to climb out. Just give your bp some time

Hammerhead is correct. However, without knowing anything else about your setup, I would make the following recommendation. Sometimes a snake that is constantly trying to escape, could be a sign that it is seeking cooler temperatures. Double check the temp on your hot side, and the ambient temp and adjust them if thay are incorrect.

Re: rubbing on tank lid
Thanks for the suggestions! The warm side is 91 F and the cool side is 79.5 F. The humidity is at 55%. Whenever I have picked her up (maybe twice by now), she feels cool to the touch, and really enjoys my warm hands. Hmmmmm, maybe it is because I just changed substrate from mulch to paper towels, but she was doing it before then too. Hopefully she'll settle down. She is even doing it this morning, and it is fairly bright in my room because it is daytime. She seems determined to climb anything all the time now....could it be because she is so young?
