Pre-Egg Lay Shed vs. Regular Shed

other than the fact that the female has been breeding, is there any other evidence that will tell you that the shed is a pre egg lay shed?

i have a female that is now in shed but has been bred only twice so far. could this be her pre-egg lay shed?? should i start counting the days to eggs while attempting to breed her just to be safe? and does the 25-37 day countdown start at the beginning of a shed cycle or after the old skin has been shed off?

Not sure I understand what you are trying to ask...

The pre lay shed is the one following ovulation, has your female ovulated? Eggs are usualy laid 27-30 after the shed. If you've just begun cyling your BP's, you've got a few more month before getting eggs.

A gravid female cannot be overlooked, they look very plumpy

well a female that has copulated twice is in shed right now and i am trying to determine if this is a pre-egg lay shed or not. she is a younger snake but is a great size and weight and i am unsure if she is going through another "growing" shed or a pre-egg lay shed. is that a little clearer? i have not noticed much swelling to indicate ovulation but then again this is my first year breeding. she looks a little fatter though...?

IMO - I seriously don't you have a pre lay shed...My females have been breeding for a month and I don't expect my earliest female to ovulate until Feb...All you have to do is palpate your girl...If she had her pre lay shed the eggs will feel like water balloons - All squishy and soft...If they are still follicles - they will be hard almost like rocks - Which will tell you she hasn't ovulated or you got some slugs coming...I know people breed and produce all year round (my last clutch just hatched a week ago) but I serioulsy don't you got yourself a pre lay shed - I'd keep breeding if I were you...It's a long process - Usually 3 - 5 months...Good luck...
