I've read/heard that plastic releases a chemical similar to estrogen when it's warmed/heated. There have been studies done and they found it to cause birth defects and other problems in both humans and animals. These scientists did a study using frogs because they reproduce quickly. They found this body of water that had high levels of estrogen (from pollution) and studied the frogs and also studied frogs fromanother body of water with lower levels of estrogen. Anyway, the frogs in the higher levels of estrogen had several different types of birth defects.

I'll see if I can find the links and get them posted up here... I can't recall where I read this at. Has anyone else heard this?
