    Ok, so I'm new to Cali... are grasshoppers not common here?
    Back in Ohio, they're everywhere (when the weather's warm and dry).

    Cool! Green ones are rare back home! Back in my bug catching days we could only find the brown ones (several different subspecies, but all brown). You can imagine how boring that would get

    I actually haven't seen any grasshoppers here and have here for a little over a year, never really noticed (or thought about it) until now.

    But sometimes, we'd find these super huge green ones (the color of a praying mantis) it was like discovering a new species... they were 3" long and had such smoothness to their bodies.
