Sheriff can't help - Snakes can!

We had a group of people staking out our neighborhood. It happens just about every year and despite posting signs such as "We shoot first and ask questions later", breakins happen every year at around the same time. Our neighborhood is actually rather safe: Although we live very secluded everyone knows everyone and besides the three vehicles that come through every day (neighbors that check to see, if everybody is doing alright), the mail lady and the guy that empties the trash bins once a week there isn't any traffic. So, when a vehicle comes through that doesn't belong everyone takes notice.
A few days ago we had a van come through with a group of people that knock at doors and when someone answers they quickly produce a piece of soap or some other crap saying they are trying to sell something. Calling the sheriff doesn't help any, cause unless they actually pull a stupid the sheriff can't do nothing.
My daughter and I recognized one of the persons that my hubby held the door open for and we knew what this was all about. We went downstairs took two of the adult BP's and made our way back to the hallway (it's a bit cramped right by the door). As we walked by we made sure to mention that there was no reason to be alarmed since these were harmless BP's and that we had already taken care of the venomous ones for the night, while I did remind my hubby to make sure to double check the locks on their cages (btw, I do not keep hots!). As we kept walking to the stairs leading to the upstairs these people were scarmbling to get out the door.
I think, I might wanna put a sign in the door that reads "Beware of the snakes".

Reminds me of when the Jehova's Witnesses came down our driveway. The only time. I came out toting a gun (I was literally just about to do some target practice) and Mark had some band tee on, I think it was Slayer.. he said something funny about being a devil worshipper.. they never came back..

whatever works! one day some jehova's witnesses came to a friends door (who is athiest with dyed crimson hair and lots of piercings) so she told them she worships the devil. her 5 year old son (with hair halfway down his back) came to the door to see who it is. angie told the witnesses "this is my son. he loves satan too!" and that settled that!

I actually admire the Jehovah's Witnesses. They put their balls on the line for their beliefs, and really believe them, unlike a lot of so-called christians.
That said, my entire neighborhood thinsk I keep cobras, and know I have an arsenol of rifles, shotguns, and handguns. I just like shooting. The snake thing was from me trying to get a nice picture of a large female ball python that really is cranky. I had her outside to get a natural light shot and she really wanted to bite at me, so the neighbors were all gathered up yelling. I finally told them "Yeah it's a cobra" in a VERY sarcastic tone, but all it took was the word "cobra" from my mouth. They've seen the giant lizards, and the various snakes, so they all know I'm the crazy of the area.
Add to that, I told one lady that if someone broke into my house I would shoot them in the head. When she protested, I pointed out that in Florida, it's legal. Her son was the one breaking into houses, and he hasn't been seen on our road since that innocent conversation.
If people are going to irrationally fear snakes, we might as well use that for our own benefit. A nice sign that reads "Please do not disturb the venomous snakes" on the front door does nicely to deter folks from wanting to sell me soap.

I have 1.Dogue de Bordeaux and .1Doberman in my house and never worry about burglars. It's also easy to get rid of solicitors at the door. The dogs act pretty menacing to strangers at the door unless I tell them "It's OK".

I do not respect Jehova witnesses! My reasoning? Their leaders tell the followers that if they do not leave their $$ to the church, they will go to hell. I don't want to start a religious debate; just sayin'.
