Re: Let's get this up & running again

    Oh, this looks like fun!

Here I am at age 3, playing with a squirrel that used to visit me every day at 12pm for free peanuts and petting. I think he liked the peanuts more, but he endured the molestation regardless. (Peanut whore!) He’d even come into the house and sit in my lap, without being prompted, as long as we left the back door open. Their claws are wicked-sharp.

This one is far more recent. 'tis me, with my 38 string Celtic harp, a Triplett "Eclipse" model. The Tree of Life image on the column is a custom design inlaid with marquetry (the process of inlaying wood-into-wood, like a mosaic). The body is Bubinga (an African wood), while the soundboard and inlay are flaming maple. It has a high gloss shine that didn't really take to the photo. The human was manufactured in 1981.

Listen to a (older) sample of me playing by clicking here. (You can also right-click to download.) The piece is called, "Waveform."

I was listening to your piece called "Waveform". You are very talented. It looks like it would be quite a challenge to learn. What a beautiful instrument.

    Thank you for sharing.

Yay it is fun to see what people look like That is an awesome Harp, NightLad.. wow. That inlay must be very time-consuming and tedious.. beautiful. I would say that you're the Harpin' Herper

Ok... first of all, cute and cute on the first pic! Never saw a black squirrel before.

Second... DROOL! That harp is to DIE FOR! OMG it's gorgeous! And your playing is excellent - very nice song as well.

Hmm, do you know 'Isle of Inisfree'?? I've been looking for someone who could play and record the accompaniment to that one for me for a while now...

Thank you for the kind words, Blu Mongoose and Argentra!

Black squirrels are the vastly dominant variety in my area (Toronto, Canada). Grey are uncommon but not unseen, and red are extremely rare.

I'm sorry, but I don't know "Isle of Innisfree." I did find a YouTube of an Irish harpist playing while singing Isle of Innisfree, but it isn't an instrumental solo harp version. She has orchestral accompaniment and it is really quite lovely.

I've searched for a sheet music version, but nothing thus far. Curious, as it is clearly of the Isle. Maybe it is is known by another name? Most Irish music has 2 or 3 separate names.

PS: Just a note of interest; she is playing Irish music, on a Celtic harp, and is in a group called Celtic Women... but her style of playing is French! hehe
