    Yucky looking mice..

I saw some mice at a local pet store. It was a mom and roughly 6 babies. The babies looked all "greasy" like their hair was oily or something, and spiky. They did not look healthy but mom looked fine. Any ideas? I definately did not buy them; just wondering.

Now I will be covered in urine from laughing at reading your reply! (nah, I am not incontinent, but still.. lol.)
The bedding and all looked clean. Is it something that the mother just did because she was too lazy to leave the nest and pee? Mine always do that here; they designate the opposite side of the cage as a toilet, not the nest.
    Yuck.

They may have changed the bedding not long before you saw the mice. Babies should really only look like that when kept in dirty or overcrowded conditions. I've never had any of my baby mice or rats look like that unless I've bought them from somewhere who let them get that dirty. The moms can only clean them so much once the bedding is soaked in urine.

That is sad. I am not shopping there anymore; they are pretty smarmy. My $ will go elsewhere..!
