    New Member!!!

Hi, We're new to the site, and new to ball pythons in general. We own a columbian red tailed boa named Serendipity and love her to death! We also have about 15 bearded dragons and they are our LIFE! We love our herps!

We're thinking about opening a pet shop and was wondering if any breeders around here could give us any info on Pythons and which ones are most popular in the south, and what price is a good price for wholesale we would REALLY appreciate it!

Thanks again and hope to meet lots of new people on here and grow a few friendships out of this experience!

    Thanks for the greeting.

Down South Dragons is located in South West Georgia in a lil bitty town called Bainbridge, lol.

We're a small city but growing rapidly!

Arent there different types of Ball python and coloration differences? I love all snakes but have always been a bit scared of Balls since they're supposedly a lil more "Nippy" than boas, but maybe thats just a misunderstanding and uneducation on my part. I'm not scared of being bitten, just worried for families who have lil ones who want a python and dont really know about how they act towards people. . .can anyone give me suggestions to "overcome" this fear?

I can't say that i have nippy ball pythons...My suggestion to you is to get your feet wet and get some ball pythons from some of the wonderful breeders that are on this site.

They're awesome starter snakes. I've never been bitten.

The ball python market is awesome. If you play your cards right, then it could potentially be a great business. But don't bet your life savings on it.

Check this link out, and see just a small fraction of what's out there right now.... NERD Ball Python Collection

Also, have a look at the Ball Python Caresheet.

    Re: New Member!!!

Ive been doing some research and looking around and I think I LOVE pythons! Lol. . .Ive really got an eye for the bumble bee's and the Jungle Pastels. . .truly beautiful creatures! Who ever could have thought that a snake could have blue eyes? The leucistic with blue eyes is absolutely GORGEOUS! Also, i never realized someone will pay $5000+ for 1 snake! Thats amazing! What is the normal price for just a normal ball python? Just trying to keep from getting ripped. I paid $150 for my Columbian Red Tailed Boa then went online and found them for $65-$100 and was kind of heart broken but at the same time realized that this could be a good business because Seren is absolutely gorgeous! I'll have to post pics!

Thanks for the help guys and gals!

    Re: New Member!!!

    That's not getting ripped.

One thing you will quickly learn is that everyone sets their own price based on what they feel their animal is worth, as well as what the market looks like.

The way I look at it is I will gladly pay a little extra if I know who the snake is coming from and I know the snake is produced by a reputable person. You have to do your research on breeders to find out what's up before you drop hundreds or thousands of dollars on an animal.
