As for the fearful snake, I would work on establishing a good routine when you pick him up. Also, make sure he has adequate hides that are dark and tight. I wouldn't worry about it too much until you've given him a chance to settle in. Of course, I do have one girl that hisses at me pretty frequently but I don't let it deter me from handling her. (I just try to watch that I don't stress her out too much)
