PETCO Lies?

I don't hate Petco like many people do. The one near me is actually better in care of their animals than most smaller stores in the area. They seperate their rats/other rodents by sex and size, and use good bedding (aspen, no pine.) And their snakes, while they are all in one cage, have hidespots and a UTH on a dimmer, and they all eat according to my husband's cousin, who works their reptile department. He had made some changes for the better, as well as in the fish department.. but the tough thing about saying "I hate petco" or "I like petco" is tricky. Some locations are so nasty that I would not step foot in them, according to what I have read here. Then there's the one in West Seneca that is really not bad at all. And they are into adopting-out cats/dogs as opposed to selling them; something that alot of local shops should learn as well.. argh!
If you don't have your PALS card with you, but have one, they can look you up in their computer at the register.

pythontricker, I suggest you do the same. petco is over priced in everything they sell...EVERYTHING. I left after their MICE hit 2.29 per mouse. what a joke

dito!! to the t. the one by our house is really nice, always very very clean!! the only thing i do dislike is they have lots of baby balls together but otherwise its a very nice clean store

i work at a petco and to tell ya honestly i tell people we are over priced and tell them to go to the dollar store and make there own hides for animals out of the cheap plastic dark containers. and if it comes to bedding and stuff like that i give them a list of websites to look into. and being the reptile specialist at my store, i check in the animals and the last shipment of bp's we got were mite infested, thank you pro-rodent for that! sorry didnt mean to name drop. but it erks my nerves that :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r: like that happens and it took me almost a month and a half to get rid of the mites for good. o welll im done writing. ooo and i changed the name around of the company for my entertainment.

I personally don't shop there unless it is a situation where I need rats and can't find them anywhere else. Now that most of my hatchlings are gone, this should not be a problem as I breed them.

I dont think Petco lies (on purpose), they just dont know what their talking about most of the time.
I had a Petco emplyee once tell me how you had to feed the larger species of tarantulas newborn pigs. Funny thing, I keep around 40 tarantulas with some being pretty darn big and all they ever get is crickets and roaches.
Oh well, it takes this to make the world go around I suppose
