Are there any active snakes?
I love my bp but seeing him is like seeing bigfoot, lol. He eats every 5 days anything I throw in there, sheds good, has never bit me but only see him when he goes from hide to hide. I am going to get another snake and would like to get one a little more active or maybe one that likes to hang out on a log or something that I could at least look at. Any suggestions? Thanks-really don't want a corn, maybe looking into some type of boa?

My rat snake and kingsnakes are pretty active. Sometimes it's hard to hold on to them.

active when they are out, or in their enclosure?

Re: Are there any active snakes?
BP's are nocturnal. If the enclosure is in a low-traffic area and you turn out the lights, he will come out at night. We turn on a dim light so we can witness the night wanderings of our BP. Very fun to watch, but you have to be willing to be up later.
Do you handle your BP? Is he somewhat active then?
Corn, garter, kingsnakes are all more active, but like Blu Mongoose said, also harder to hold onto when handling them.
How long have you had your BP?

I think maybe both, but especially when out and being handled.

My corn is always out and climbing around, as is my King. They both eat regularly too and are fun to watch. My BP can stay in one hide for days at a time, maybe poke his head out a little and that is about all. He is also off feed right now, which although normal, still makes me nervous.

Re: Are there any active snakes?
Which of the corn, king, or milk snake would u prefer? I kind of like those albino banana king snake? Are the king snakes pretty docile? I have had my bp about 8 months and I handle him regularly and he is pretty active then, just hardly ever out, sometimes got his head out and on feeding day he is usually a little out and about

Re: Are there any active snakes?
I don't have experience with any of the other colubrids but I love my corn snake Mazie. She knows when I get home and gets all excited to see me. She spends a lot of time crusing around and climbing, yet, oddly enough, she calms way down when I hold her, sometimes just sitting in my hands or even falling asleep!!! Then when I put her back in her enclosure she starts right back up with the crusing around. As far as fun pets go, she's tops in my book.
