Just starting to really play with the features of the new camera, I picked up a Canon PowerShot S5IS. Really love some of the options.

Nathan, can you help me get the orange hues out from his ear and cheek (quick explanation)? I tried to paint over it in photoshop but just could not make it look right.

Neil, quite simple process inside Photoshop

Using your Lasso tool, or the polygonal Lasso tool, draw a nice big circle around the area you want to make black and white. It doesn't have to be exact at all.

Then, go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate
