I had an old employer try the same garbage on me. I took it over her head with a copy of the dress code, information from my own boss who stated it was always well kept etc. Technically beyond safety needs for a hair net or up do they can't legally do anything to you. They dropped it when I stated that if they were going to enforce it against me it would have to be added to the official dress code and because it was currently they would be compensating me for the hair dresser bill. I was doing main reception at a very uptight company at the time... I got sent home once because I wore a skirt suit and nylons which you could just barely see the tattoo I have on the inside of one ankle, and was permanently restricted to pants regardless of how hot it was outside. I never got sent home again though because the hr tyrant was the one doing my job for the 3 hours it took me to bus home across the city![]()
