A good trade?

How would you feel about trading 3.0 lower-quality Graziani Pastels for 0.1 breedable female? I would be on the receiving end of the female. She is owned by a friend of ours, and they have had her for awhile; and the pastels would luckily sell for maybe $75 apiece of I got lucky; they are not as flashy as the one I held back or the other one I sold to a forum member here So would you do this? I know that the female would need to be quarantined regardless of how healthy she is with her now-owners.. this is no problem and I am not just out to quickly breed another female.

Well, it's a female you can breed to create something new for you. I'd do it myself.

It's one way to move three males and gain something that adds another dimension to your future breeding plans.

agreed. $225 for a breedable female is about average, and you get to relieve yourself of 3 male pastels that it would suck to end up with b/c they are only going to brown out and look worse and be harder to sell.

If you need another girl then, for you, it's a good deal. It really depends on what your personal plans and goals are. A number of years ago I made a trade for 2 large normal females with 1 adult normal male, $100.00 and a hatchling male pastel. Then, it was a good deal for me, today I wouldn't make the same trade even though pastels are worth a lot less then they were back then. The reason being that I already have plenty of normal females to use in my plans.

Thanks for the replies. I would like to add 1-2 more big girls to my collection for breeding. I really can't afford to get into hets or codoms at the moment; and I am pretty much done producing pastels. I am keeping my male pastel for future bees and maybe more combos later on down the road if I get a pinner. I put alot of time into him to get him big and I think that breeding last year might have set him back in the growth department, so he gets this year off.. and I really do not need anymore pastels other than my holdback female '07. I definately plan on keeping a female spider this year; out of 3 females with my male, I sure hope I get at least one!
I might go off the wall and trade for something completely new and different though, like a Blood or a JCP.. I really did not want to keep the babies over the winter, but then again was not going to just give them away, you know?
As far as the pastels go; the males are nothing to scream about. My holdback female, and the male that I sold to Ladydragon, are the real screamers of the clutches. The female Pas I am trading is nice too but she adds clout to the trade.. I am still debating on keeping her if he does not have much to offer, but we'll see.

I agree with Mark, it's really up to you if it's a good deal. If you're having trouble moving out the pastels and have been looking for another breedable female, then it's a no-brainer. But if you don't mind holding onto them longer and don't really need another female, then maybe not. It's really about whether or not you think it's a good deal.

I dont think male pastels are all that bad. IF you know what to look for in a pastel hatchling then you would be able to choose one that will end up looking great. Another thing, you need male pastels to produce super pastels, or any other projects involving the pastel gene. You make them sound like they should be thrown in the garbage

She is saying the males have very little value since she HAS a breeding male pastel.
Not that they are worthless.
I would make that trade in a heartbeat. Breeding size female pastels are worth their weight in.. well, not gold, but high quality chocolate! To me at least.
