Wow; that's got to be one of the cutest puppies I have ever seen! I love that wolflike head.

Don't be at all surprised if he fights the halti at first, most dogs do. What we've always done with ours is just let them fight it a bit, call their names to get their attention and when they stop fighting the halti they get a treat (not while their fighting it though). As soon as they walk nicely, another treat or some verbal praise. If the start pawing at it or fighting it, no treats, no praise. One our our dogs was an adult the first time she had a halti on and it took her about 2 days to accept it.

    Very adorable.

The halti was the only thing that helped my sister get hers to walk managably. Starting at 5 months or so and going to 10 instead of walking he'd chomp on his leash and pull you, even though prior to this he would walk perfectly and had completed obedience training. It did wonders for them and they don't even need it anymore (so that is a point against the trainers - their obedience school trainer told them it would take them 4 years of very firm training to get him to calm down for walks when they took him back. It did take him about a month to no fuss put it on though. It probably would have helped my Dads because he just strangles himself on a choke chain, but now thats he's 7 he's naturally calmed down.

yeah i read that in the book about huskies that i bought. i'll just let him wear it by himself for a minutes at a time until he stops noticing it's not there.i'll be supervising him the whole time obviously.

Beautiful colors on him so far. It'll be interesting to see how they change as he gets older!

My Alaskan husky is a former sled dog and one of those nose-leading leashes (I guess it's a halti?) is the only way I can walk her at all. Once those dogs get going, absolutely nothing can get them to stop short of extreme braking/pressure... or having their nose turned.

And the "Furminator" is my best friend. I even use it on really bad spots on the carpet where she lays down all the time. It's appalling how much fur is still in the carpet even after a good vacuuming.
