Re: Dry ice?
in my lab we make ice cream with liquid nitrogen. just mix up all the ingredients (milk whipping cream, half n half, sugar, vanilla, salt, and some eggs) put it in some small cups and pour in the liquid nitrogen. it sublimates and freezes the ice cream, just have to keep stirring it. it's pretty sweet, and can make homemade ice cream in like 2 mins.

Hmm...that sounds scary!! Ah, remember the days of making ice cream, with the old hand-cranked ice cream freezer?? I thought we were doing good when we got an electric one!!!

Hmmmm, never thought of that. This year on Halloween we flooded our entire floor that our lab is on with smog from dry ice. We got a bunch of strategically placed beakers with warm water and dry ice. It was a blast seeing everyone's reaction on the floor and as people were getting off the elevator.

Re: Dry ice?
That's a cool idea, Matthew! Maybe I'll try that with our foyer next year, would make a great effect.

Re: Dry ice?
The correct term to use is sublimes. Dry ice sublimes, not sublimates. And liquid nitrogen evaporates since it's going from liquid to gas phase. That stuff definitely is fun to play with though.
