We are getting our first morph!

Today we went to the store to get feeders (they were out) and saw that they had some pastel hatchlings for sale. $100. We asked if we could see them (there were three) and we took each out in turn. The first was very aggressive and bit me. He was in shed so I didn't blame him. We put him back though. The next was another male. Very calm, not head shy and with more yellow than the other two. Very pretty. The next was another male and he had more orange and was brighter than the other two. We instantly fell in love.

We decided to talk with my fiance's mother before bringing the snake home and it worked! After talking with her for a bit on why we wanted the snake and how much it would cost to purchase and feed it, she agreed to let us bring it home. We are so excited. We are about to jump out of our skins knowing he'll be home tomorrow.

We already have a name picked out. Since we purchased the crested gecko earlier today, and named it a halloween-ish name (chewy, like halloween candy), we figured the pastel should have a halloween as well, especially since we are bringing him home on Halloween. His name is Thriller, like thriller movies (which scare me too much for me to watch them)

Thanks. I can't wait to get him home. I will take a few pictures before putting him away in quarantine. Our next will be a future girlfriend for this boy.

Re: We are getting our first morph!

Just a little advice, I'd pick the second male.
you said this one has a lot of orange. You wanna stear clear of that because orange tends to turn to brown A LOT. So pick the more yellow looking one or the one with the least amount of orange. congrats either way!

Congratulations! And yes, orange turns brown as they mature. As long as you love the little guy, it shouldn't matter!

I will talk with my fiance about that. The yellow was just as sweet as the orange. We just liked him because of the orange, but if its going to fade, I dunno. Perhaps we might switch and get the yellow. I liked the yellow because it wasn't shy at all.

I talked to my fiance and we decided to switch to the yellow. It has a better temperment anyway. The orange just had a nice pattern. Will have pics up tonight.

Agreed its true my female went from a beautiful orange and yellow 120 grammer to a 1020 brown pastel. Dont get me wrong she is still awesome but i wish she looked a little more like my blonde male. But all together pastels are the shiznit

Class ended early today. I was going to go pick up the pastel after class but now I have another 2 hours to kill. I can't wait this long!

Sounds nifty Pastels are always fun to have. I have really been noticing that Pastels are the "breakthrough" morph that is finding its way into pet stores. I sold a few to a guy who has a shop in Buffalo.. but I kept my higher-yellow ones.
I would go with the more-yellowy one as well. It must be killin' you to have to wait these hours!
