It all depends on the ball... mine doesn't care- he'd probably eat in the middle of mating!

If he's going to be cranky or finicky during a shed, you've got the right idea letting him be for a week or two.

At any rate, it will not hurt him a bit to skip a week, so no worries there. Hope the shed goes well. Have you bumped your humidity at all?
