I think it makes for a more stable, well balance animal when they compete.. Also people don't realize if a dog gets bored they can be problem dogs. Many dogs are turned in to shelters because they are destructive, many times due to nothing other than boredom. Give the dog a job with discipline and praise and watch the difference. A dog with a job, is a happy dog!! Every dog needs the one on one with their person and competeing takes time and patience which builds a great bound. The time spent with your dog will reward you with a wonderfully behaved and loyal companion.
