ALOT of hallo pictures (tounge included)

what should their humidity be? the breeder said they like lots of humidity and that i should put the moss in his enclosure, he uses it (i saw his setups) and all his animals do wonderfully.. as you can see in my pic were currently running at 72degrees (not a probe) our temps are generally cooler at night but the range doesnt get much higher than that during the day when i get home from work... and 95% humidity... is that too much? enjoy the pics!
these are the enclosures i have ready for babies... hallo is in the one to the left. the one on the right is set up (no water misting currently) and ready when we bring home our next baby. i put the food bottle in there for size refrence. the enclosures are actually on top of my 5' tall rat cage so my kids leave them alone except for hand feeding we leave them alone for the most part. when he gets bigger obviously will go in a nice size tank/enclosure

i think hes looking much more healthy lately (2xs a night hand feeding right now, since starting that hes perked up alot!)

and a pic of him a week ago.. i think he looks much better!

he's so cute. the moss is okay to use as long as you don't feed insects. if do feed insects they will be very hard to find in the moss and he will likely ingest some of it. humidity should be around 60% for cresteds, but it can dip lower inbetween mistings. if you have consistently low humidity you can use a humid hide. if it were me, i'd use paper towel substrate and make a humid hide using the moss. that will keep things easier to clean, easy to find food in and still provide enough humidity without having too much.

Emily what should her temps be? 72 seems a bit on the chilly side...

now to find a smaller hide than cage lol.. thats a great idea thank you. i have papertowels in there and have been using them as substrate but the breeder suggested i put it in there to help humidity. i have two of those carry container thingies the dragons came home in.. i bet if i cut a hole it in and put the moss in there it would work for a humid hide.. great idea. i have not been feeding him insects because ive been worried about him not eating and i bought him a few tiny crickets and he didnt do anything with them.. out of fear of them harming him i took them out. i could try it again im just scared they will hurt him.. when i feel apricot baby food i have been mixing in the calcium dust (per breeder suggestion) and when feeding the cgd i leave it the way it is (no added dust) one of feeding each...

nate according to most of the caresheets ive read.. thats actually ideal but emily please correct me if im wrong! its 11:45 here right now and this is the coldest it gets in our house... i just took those pics

72 is okay for cresteds--anything from 68-80 is fine, although i tend to prefer the warmer end of the scale for hatchlings so they eat more and grow faster.

emily is there a suggestion if i need to make him warmer and how you suggest i do it.. i know they dont like bright lights, i have a very small uth and a rheostat but im not sure i can get it warm enough to not over warm him.. again this is the coldest it gets in our house too though...we turn the ac down pretty low at night here, during the day it warms up a bit being in south florida it just seems to happen that way with the sun shining in... ill be sure to let you know what temps are tomorrow

edit: also how do you think he looks & what do you think of his enclosure?

ashley, i just noticed you live in south florida. unless your AC does a super duty job on taking humidity out of the air i doubt you need to do a lot to increase humidity except maybe in the short period in the winter when you might use heat (if you do).

also, i'd skip the babyfood feedings altogether and just go with the cgd. babyfood has added sugar that's just not good for them. even if it is organic babyfood that has no sugar added i'd just give it as an occasional treat, so that hallo gets the right amount of nutrients from cgd and doesn't fill up on the babyfood instead.

i don't think you need to do anything to increase his temps. if 72 is the coolest it gets he'll be just fine.

i think he looks good, as does his enclosure. you could add a few sticks/papertowel rolls cut to size/fake vines/etc. to his cage if you want but while he is small the vines you have in their now should provide plenty of climbing and hiding space.
