Leopard!
Who else has pre-ordered the next major release of OSX? Ok I JUST ordered mine moments ago (been a long hard week) and it will be released tomorrow. It said it delivers on the 26th but I'm not so sure I'll get it that quick since I chose regular shipping.
Anyway I know there are long time mac users here so I thought I'd ask about it. Looks like many great new features and improvements. I'm starting to miss windows less and less accept for when I occasionally need to do some gaming but I haven't had time for that in forever.

Re: Leopard!
i really want to order my copy, but honestly i think i may need to upgrade my mac itself before i upgrade my software. besides, if do get a new machine it will come with leopard. of course, this is mostly wishful thinking as i don't really have the cash for a new machine at the moment. aah well, there's always christmas...

You always have the money for a PC with Vista

Re: Leopard!
gah....So expensive. I went and customized my own Mac Pro on their web site and with my needs, i end up spending 5,000 for the low end mac pro....but I have to be honest...when I buy a mac, I will be confident that it will be the best money i've ever spent on a computer. I'm so sick of PC's going nutty on me.

Re: Leopard!
I probably would not have my own mac if I had not purchased through work. They are expensive...and I got my mostly loaded at the time. The only thing more I could have had added to 15" macbook pro I have is another gig of memory but it just wasn't worth the extra cost for 3gb! I did upgrade it to a 7200rpm hard drive though...which apple offers as on option on the 15's now!
I run OSX and Vista simultaneously 5 days a week all day and it works very well for me. I use parallels to run Vista within OSX, really the only time I full boot into Vista (bootcamp) is when I want to play game.
Anyways! I'm looking forward to the OSX release!

Re: Leopard!
I ran linux for a while on my last laptop but I still need windows to run some software. Most of what I use windows for is user management tools, our email client, security camera system, and whatever requires windows. I have sorta been itching to try and get Linux running on my macbook pro but I'll be darned if I can find the time.

Re: Leopard!
I am planning to format my pc that I use for my home theater system and running Linux as a media center. Having a pc with wireless highspeed dedicated to storing music and video and hooked up to 6.1 surround is the best $300 I've ever spent. I can play any movie or music I've ever downloaded or rented with a mouse click, and I can pull up internet videos and stream internet t.v., videos and radio in a split screen while sitting on my couch. Let's see the Apple fan boys beat that

Re: Leopard!
Macs are very very well made computers, but the price just turns me away instantly. I used to sell computers a few years ago(CompUSA). I could buy a MAc Pro for around $2,799 or I could spend $1000 on an hp with twice the power and internal hardware of the Mac Pro. IMacs are beautiful if you have ever seen one. I would consider one of those over a laptop.
The other thing that bugs me too is all the incompatibility. Having to run boot camp or Parallels to use a lot of daily programs, doesn't seem worth it to me.
I still use XP and I was still selling computers around when Vista came out. It was nothing but horror stories, so I am still waiting.
I have yet to have any PC's go crazy on me, like everyone says.
