    BP seriously burned.

    Hey guys and girls.

First I just want to state that this is NOT my snake.

I was browsing a different reptileforum where I found a thread about a snake that got seriously burned on the heat-lamp. This picture really shows how important to keep the lamp away from the snake so it can't burn itself.
I do not know how the snake is doing at this moment, though I'm pretty sure the owner took it to the vet.

Personally I didn't know that snakes could damage themselfs this much without moving away from the heatsource, but I do now.

Wow, that's just awful! I hope that the snake gets proper care and recovers! They do seem to be very resiliant when given immediate care though.

Oh Holy crap..That is by far the worst burn I have ever seen. Snakes normally will move away from pain. But a wound like that could be achieved instantly from a real hot light. Add in infection and poor care and bingo very sad looking gruesome wound.

It looks to me like its healing, but that is by far one of the worst burns I have ever seen. Wow.

It looks like that's a belly burn. I'm guessing the owner had a heat pad under a majority or all of the tank without a thermostat or rheostat. Like you said, leave it in a dirty cage for a couple of weeks to get infected and that picture is what you end up with. That's horrible.

My first thought when I saw this picture was that it must have been horrible for the snake. If you ever end up in a situation like this, when it's that bad, is there a chance that it could live without experiencing too much pain?

Wow, that's horrible, just another example of someone not taking proper care of their animals and the poor animal pay the price.

They do remarkably well and heal amazingly (when properly treated).
