    Is this a wolf tail??

Someone gave me this.. it was marked as a "wolf tail" and bought at an Indian reservation gift shop. Do you really think that it is??

Hopefully it's coyote. If it really was from a Timber Wolf, it would probably be highly illegal to have it in your possession.

I have some fox tails, but that fur looks a little coarse to be from a fox.

Re: Is this a wolf tail??

I am trying to ginf out if they are legal/illegal in NY state. If they are illegal, I plan on turning it in to a local nature center; they must have a permit b/c they exhibit all sorts of endangered animals and parts; if they are illegal in my state.

I think Timber wolves are still federally listed as endangered, (which would make it nationwide) though I know there has been a lot of talk about downlisting them to 'threatened' but I don't know if that has happened.

Re: Is this a wolf tail??

Whoa, apparently I'm way behind the times. Looks like in my state they're listed as recovered. Didn't notice anything about New York at all, though I did read something about them being endangered in the lower 48 states EXCEPT for those populations that were listed as recovered.

Looks like I'm going to have to go find me a wolf now so I can shoot it and stuff it and name it George.
