I usually just brace my elbow against something.. tripods are too cumbersome for me.. especially with an active snake.

I honestly can say that I envy your green lawn lol Do you set the camera down and let the snakies come to it or do you bring it more toward them?

I end up following them around with the camera.. some are more cooperative than others.
