first shed coming?
hello all,
About five days ago i noticed my ball pythons eyes were baby blue. so i thought it must be about to shed. So I bumped the humidity up to about 60%. Since then nothing has hapend he seems to be his same old self just his eyes are baby blue. Has this ever happend to anyone else? does anyone have any advice?
Thanks,
Dean

Re: first shed coming?
once the eyes go back to kinda normal you should expect a shed, i have 3 in shed right now... but they wont actually shed for about another week...
my blood python has been in shed for a week and is probably close to shedding...
but it all depends on the snake.

Re: first shed coming?
Yeah my blood just shed and it took him a week and a half. It all depends on the snake like said above.
For the ball I'd bump your humidity up to at least 70%. Otherwise your gonna have problems with a bad shed. When my little girl sheds if I don't have the humidity at 70 to 75% I have bad sheds.
Good luck to you.

Re: first shed coming?
you can handle them if you need to move them in their cage... but i know it stresses my girls out if i handle them when they are in shed... my big boy will crawl right um my arm if im giving him water, even in shed.
but being the first shed i wouldnt really mess with him to much =]

Re: first shed coming?
I feed mine while in shed. Some will eat some won't. I feed pre killed or frozen thawed and always have a good feeding response. still.
I'd say give it a shot. And if they eat they eat. If not...then wait till next feeding day. No biggie.
And handling like said is ok. But limit it to moving em to change the water or to clean something if necessary.
And don't soak em to help with the shed!!!! It can lead to bad sheds. Just bump the humidity to 70% or a little higher and sit back and have a cold one
