I love "fixer-upers" you get to keep all the sweat equity that you put into it (assuming you are handy with repairs). Not to mention you can donate all the junked cars to Goodwill and get a nice tax deduction

I bought my first house this way - it was trashed but in a descent neighborhood. Took a lot of work (but little "cost" to fix it up) ended up selling it a few years later for more than double what I paid for it.
