    How many morphs are there?

Okay, here is where I came up with this question. I am a graduate student in Landscape Architecture. Each grad student in the program has their own desk. Well all the student decorate their desks with either pics of their family, pets, famous crushes, cars, etc....and then there is me...I have about 10 different photos of Balls, each a different morph. Well everyone is fascinated by them and ask me what kind of snakes they are, and I tell them they are all the same type of species, just different morphs/patterns. Some people get real into it and start to ask how some of these morphs are created and blah blah....and I tell them ooohhh this is only like a quarter of the morphs out there, there are probably around 40-50 different morphs out there. So this sparked my own curiousity, how many morphs are out there? I know this is kind of an ambiguous question because people are always trying to sell an abberant normal as the next big thing, but how about those morphs that have been proven? If you are real bored, try to list as many as you can, and we can see how many are out there...again I KNOW this number wont be correct cuz their are new morphs it seems like every month, but I am just curious. Thanks all!

I would start by listing all the morphs in "Pythons of the World, Volume 2" Dave and Tracy Barker and then the "Complete Ball Python" Kevin McCurley and then Ralph and Kara could add some of there newest goodies and combos.

Way more than that, and there is already so many listed on NERD site http://www.newenglandreptile.com/ner...=543&Itemid=76 and it does not even include all of them

Well, the first question is are you only looking at BASE morphs, or all of the combos as well?

    It's a challenge, that's for sure.

Re: How many morphs are there?

There's around 40 base mutations I believe (but that may include the allele variations, like hypos pastels etc). The combinations then become literally impossible to determine. We've already seen triple combinations... that alone puts the possibilities in the hundreds if not thousands .

Actually NERD is producing snakes that have at least 4 (and I think the Angel of Death has 5???) co-dominate morphs in them....I can't even imagine the kind of numbers that would produce if you looked at all the combos that could be made....
