    Re: Finished custom cages

Biggest one going in there is 700g and the smallest is 525g... Id actually like to see other peoples set ups as well... The reason I made these is right now I use 96qt tubs (dimensions are like 36x12x18.5) and my snakes have like no room to move... I will snap some pics of their homes now but with 2 hides, a water dish, and this plastic thingy ma bob for them to climb on it leaves them like no room to move... theyre always moving their hides around and what not at night when theyre awake bc they got no room to move... Ive been asked "why such big cages?" and Im curious to see how everyone else manages to fit everything in a 66qt tub or whatever they use... I have 3 07 babies that I keep in 66qt tubs and I have no idea how you could fit a 4-5ft snake in such a small enclosure?

    Re: Finished custom cages

    Hey Josh,

I'm new to this and have made just about every mistake in the book. I thought I would give my baby (20 inches) a nice big thirty gallon tank. Apparently from what I'm told the tank is way too big. How do you set up a tub? I understand this is the way to go. Do you think that, aside from your beautiful cages, a plastic tub is the wat to go?

    Re: Finished custom cages

Yes a tub is much much easier to get things down... I like you started off with glass only to spend countless hours messing with different stuff to get temps/humidity up... I got them right (still use a 40gal for my RTB) but spent extra cash and wasted time trying to do so... I'm much much different than your average BP owner and believe the more space the better... I started my first baby ball off in a 40 gal and never had any problems with feeding stress or anything... It really all depends on your ball... For beginner I would reccommend starting with something smaller just to prevent any possible problems... some people start off with 12qt tubs and others like me like bigger tubs and mine are in 66qt... Its really up to what you would like your snakes to have as long as you know there are potential problems(not eating, stress) with a larger tank. Nothing saying this will def. happen as I have never had this problem but it can be an issue... Youd set a tub up just like a tank... heat pad on one side hooked to a thermostat, 2 identicle hides(zilla makes black plastic ones... I use the smallest for my babies), a water dish, and something to climb on if you would like... Id try to get the snap top tubs just bc they lock somewhat to prevent the lil guy from escaping... I put a small brick on mine to prevent anything like that... I can go into more detail if you need but thats pretty much it...
