    Wanting to get a Mojave......

Does anyone know of a good breeder who doesn't over price?? I'm not looking to spend an arm and a leg... okay maybe an arm...

I wanted to get a lesser platinum, but can't afford it right now......Moving into a new place Monday.....Gotta see what the bills are like before I dish out that kinda $$! A mojave is definitely an option though. They're beautiful!

Not trying to tell you what to do...but if you really want a lesser...save for another few months or get in with a good breeder on a payment plan...when its all said and done...it'll be worth the wait. You don't want to think, every time you look at your mojave, "here's my lesser wanna be..."

Mojave's are beautiful and so are lessers, payment plans work well. You can hit the classifieds and as always, "Know" who you are sending your money to before agreeing to anything.

Wow Ama, that's a a beautiful snake, thanks for the pics!

Also, I am wanting to get a lesser and a mojave......mojave is just more realistic at the time. I will end up with both regruardless, it was just a matter of which would come first. lol........I understand what you're saying though.

Thanks, Im not sure if he will be working with lessers. I think he showed us one when we were at his place. Cant remember. Send him an email and see if he will have any next year. It will give you time to get the money saved. Also should be a bit cheaper next year.

That is an oxymoron. The reason you pay more from the "big breeders" is the assurance that your animal is:

    - sexed right
    - What you ordered. I can't count the amount of times that I have heard of someone paying $2000 to a complete stranger over the internet for a high end morph, and opening their package upon arrival to find a corn snake or something. Do your research! I suggest that you go to Fauna classifieds Board of Inquiry message board and either do a search on the breeder you are thinking of using, or start a thread asking if anyone has had dealings with them already, and how they have gone.
    - Morphs of these exspensive nature are selectively bred. They don't simply take any snake and breed it, they take the pick of the clutch to hold back for future breeding ... you get what you pay for really here, and it shows when a quality BP is compared to another BP of the same type.
    - They are guarenteed to be healthy - You don't want to bring in a reptile with IBD and end up having it wipe out your whole collection ... Yikes, I don't even like to think of that. You might get off easy with something like IR or mites .... Buyer beware!
    - Most big breeders have arrive alive guarentees when it comes to shipping. They will replace the snake if there is anything wrong in the first 24 hours, as a snake being replaced is minor compared to their reputation. It takes years to build that reputations that top breeders such as NERD and the Snake Keeper have earned and they won't risk it over one snake.
    - They operate like a business, no guess work. You are supplied with papers on your snakes genetics, and are kept aware the whole time, including when the snake is in transit.
    - After purchase support: Most big breeders are there to answer questions and help out for that snake the whole time you own it.
    - Hets: This one is a biggy. If you have intents of breeding, you don't want to find out 3 years down the road that the $800 you spent on a 100% pied female is a loss when she doesn't prove out. In this case, most of the big breeders will offer a new snake when it comes to 100% hets. I know you were mentioning a Mojave and a Lesser, but it is still something good to be aware of.

Now, with all that said, I am not knocking the small guy, heck, I am one of them. I find you pay the extra for the aforementioned assurances, and when it comes down to an investment quality snake, is saving the extra couple hundred really worth it the extra anxiety? Anyways, not sure if any of that helped or not, but good luck with your BP hunt!

I would get a mojave female now raise her up and then pick up a male lesser later on. Then you are your way to making a blue eyed white snake!

    Yeah Now!
