    Question Strange Idea?

Has anyone ever thought of using a metal (or something that tends to transfer heat) under their entire tank to keep the bottom warmer. For example... placing a UTH under the hot side like usual, then placing some sort of metal over the entire bottom of the enclosure. I wouldn't expect too much other than some extra surface warmth across the tank. I just got the idea and way wondering if anyone else had ever thought of this.

REflectix does the same thing... You can buy it at ace hardware by the foot.

I wonder if that would actually transfer warmth to the cool side surface, or just help to keep the heat in the tank (air temp). Actually... if done right I could see that doing what I was thinking. Thanks for the idea.

    Re: Strange Idea?

I've thought about attaching metal plates to the bottom of tubs to conduct heat to the entire bottom, but it would have to be pretty thin so the whole bottom doesn't get hotter than 85 while the hot side is 92 or so. If it is too thick you would lose your temp. gradient.
What are these mojavas I keep hearing so much about?

i agree with the reflectix, it's cheaper and easier to cut.
