and just to let you know snakes don't "defecate" on a weekly basis often. sometimes they can go months with out leaving a present. so i wouldn't determine feeding times by when they poo. you should keep a regular feeding schedule of every 7-10 days.
Could, or should? I know they could, but hoppers are so darn hyper I think they might be difficult prey for a hatchling BP's first meal. When I brought home bones, the extremely emaciated juvenile I just rescued, he didn't have the strength to go after a hopper, so I got 2 fuzzies instead.. They don't move around much, so they made an easy target for him. The next week though, it was an adult mouse and he took it down with ease.
