    wheeze right after a meal

First of all, hello everyone. I'm new to the forum. I've owned a male bp before for about 5 years, sadly I was forced to give him a new home when I had to move overseas.

Anyways, I have a cb07 female bp now. Tuesday, directly after she had her meal down she displayed all the signs of an RI. Wheezing, face rubbing, angled head and gaping mouth. The symptoms only lasted until she got comfortable in her hide...maybe 5 minutes.

2 Days later and she hasn't wheezed, popped, had any excess mucus or displayed any other signs. She's very active and alert.

I was able to do a pretty good search of the forum last night and wasn't able to find any occurrences of the same signs "directly after feeding" from any other members.

Temps and humidity are all at perfect settings. 55-60% humidity - 78-79* on one side and 88-90ish* on the other side.

I've never encountered an RI an just wanted to make sure I was only being excessively cautious...maybe some extra saliva had caused the problem during the feed?

    Thanks for reading!

    Welcome to the forum!

It's actually somewhat common for Balls to experience most of the symptoms you've described after eating a meal. Her jaw may not have been aligned right after consuming the rodent, so they will often yawn, rub, and move their head around in order to get things lined up again. The wheezing is a little unusual and may have something to do with excess mucous, but it would be a good idea to keep a close eye on her for the next few days in case she shows any more signs of a URI.

    Good luck!

That was really the kind of response I was hoping for.
Owning my male for a few years realigning and some rubbing I knew was normal. It was the wheezes that really threw me off. I've not heard that before.
Naturally, with easy forum access these days, I started reading and feared the worst.

    Close eye is being administered.

    Thanks.
