Rack Humidity qyestion

Hey guys recently I bought a rack and I have drilled a alot of holes in to each tub and dont even have water bowls in them ATM and the Hum% is still 75-85% most of the time.

All Im useing for subrate is newspaper. Rack is in basement.

Any thoughts ?

What is the avg. basement humidity? If the room the rack is in is really humid so will the rack be.

I only took out the Hum probe for like an hour or so and it read 70ish. I think Ill go take it out and leave for the day and get a good ambient humidity. I have already mention this to the wife and we my have a rack in the dinning room

If your ambient humidity is high then it will definately translate to high humidity in the rack. You could try moving the water bowl as far away from the heat source, that might help to dry the air.

If you basement is 70% ambient humidity all the time you better start watching out for mold...especially if the room is kept warm.

I would invest in a good de-humidifier to bring it down - they are cheap now that most stores are closing them out for the season.

Ok I left it out(ambient) most of the day and read 61-62%. Also the Hum probe in one of the racks read 65%( with out water bowl). I had drilled new holes in each tub a few days ago perhaps they will indeed be lower now.
