Re: Free Printer Cartridge Refill
I printed the coupon before reading it. I was planning to bring in a 220mL light cyan for my Epson 9600. It's no wonder they exclude Epson and HP. It would have saved me over $200. Oh well.

The exclusion for Epson and Canon is because they micro-chip* their ink cartridges so that, even when refilled, they will report themselves as empty electronically. All of this is a S&M (sales and marketing, although the other definition applies equally) ploy that includes selling printers close to or below cost, and then making it back by selling your ink to a captive audience at a premium.
That said, both can be refilled with the use of a small electronic device that resets the internal chip to "full", saving you loads of cash on overpriced ink.
*further note on microchips, often, they will report empty well before the cartridge is actually out of ink. epson refers to this as a means of ensuring quality prints, because we all know that the last 15-20% of the ink is somehow tainted.
